Steve has over 30 years of combined hands-on experience in both engineering and litigation.
Steve attended The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. with two full scholarships (Navy ROTC and Citadel Scholar). After graduating from The Citadel in 1984 as a Distinguished Naval Graduate, Steve completed two years of classroom and prototype training in the Navy's Nuclear Power Program before serving three years on a nuclear powered submarine. After earning his gold dolphins and qualifying as a Naval Nuclear Engineer, Steve transferred to a shore command in Charleston where he was the lead instructor for the Prospective Nuclear Engineer Officer School during the day and attended class at night to receive an M.B.A. from The Citadel in 1992.
After completing 8 years of required service, Steve worked two years as a consultant to the U.S. Department of Energy, conducting training and operational assessments at D.O.E. facilities responsible for the production, storage, and disposal of nuclear materials.
Steve then attended law school at the University of South Carolina, graduating in 1997. After working as a general litigator at statewide and regional law firms, Steve transferred to a patent boutique firm where he focused his practice on intellectual property - obtaining, protecting, and enforcing clients' patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. Steve has prepared, prosecuted, and obtained hundreds of patents, trademarks, copyrights, and has represented clients in patent, trademark, and copyright litigation nationwide.
In 2018, Steve opened his own practice to continue serving his clients' intellectual property needs.
